Guest opinion: School Superintendent Lee is the emotion and passion

Who this person is, in addition to being the Trustees of the school district of Lee County?

I sat down with Dr. Joseph Burke a few weeks ago with the aim of sharing with the readers of the human side of our school superintendent.

Burke says he has two goals early on in his post: make the highest priority in schools to improve reading skills and comprehension and difficult challenges facing the country subject to a standard of performance and evaluation of new teachers.

I appreciated especially recognition for improving reading skills. Students often think that because I write for the News-Press, the writing will be my main emphasis. I told them that reading is the most important skills, that if you can't read and, more importantly, understanding what you read, the impact on all classes.

Burke share a similar message when I first met him about a month ago when I, along with about 10 other teachers, heard him speak at friendship missionary Baptist Church in Fort Myers, which is a predominantly black Church.

The State Government of Indiana dig $ 320 million in tax revenues is unknown

(CNN) -the Government of the State of Indiana has found $ 320 million of funds did not know it, money officials stumbled across while enacting State belt size.

During a press conference Tuesday, Daniels cited "neglect programming" and modernized tax collection process to unearth a $ 320 million in tax revenue of the company. That money has been collected since 2007, but was not taken into account in the State budget operations.

On the contrary, this income goes unnoticed, as the country works to get the fiscal house in order. Recent efforts include some deep cuts–including approximately $ 320 million in State funding for K-12 education, according to State Senator John Broden.

"We've lost a year of educational opportunities for our children because it was wrong," Broden, ranking democratic member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said in a press release earlier this week.

In an open letter to the Committee for the State budget, and other Democrats asked Broden "audit independently … to determine how important this error occurs and how Indiana citizens can be sure that it won't happen again."

The Data collected as part of the 2009 economic stimulus plan, which flooded the States with money and education required extensive reporting how dollars flowed. New Jersey schools not included in the survey because of the country including federal funds in the calculation.
